Turning Up Fashionably On Time – Part 1

We’ve all seen the movies where the Groom is nervously standing with the Best Man waiting for his Bride to arrive. There is an anxiousness in the room and the guests are looking around and talking to each other in their seats….and then finally, at the relief of everyone (the celebrant included), the Bride finally arrives! It’s a pretty cliché scenario on the big screen, but one that should be avoided in the real world. I’m very pleased to say that nearly every couple I have married has seen the Bride “turning up fashionably on time” and “raring to go”. I love that kind of enthusiasm because it speaks volumes to the guests about how excited the couple are about making their life-long commitment.

An obvious concern with an outdoor wedding is rainy and strong wind conditions. But here on the Gold Coast, a sunny day (even during the winter months) can see your guests standing in the direct sun for a long periods of time while they are waiting for the ceremony to begin. Within a relatively short period of time, heat exhaustion can adversely affect your older guests and those who are experiencing health issues. Then there is the obvious fact that many of your guests will be dressed up for the occasion in suits and gowns. They to will  feel the impact of the warm weather conditions. Now we know that maybe not all delays can be avoided, particularly when unforeseen situations occur (I will talk about this in my next Blog). But it is worth considering the adverse impact your deliberate lateness may have on your family and friends who are there to support you and your special day! If you are not careful, the memories of your wedding may be less positive than you would have hoped for. Turning up fashionably on time” to your own wedding may not end up being a talking point sometime in the future, but it certainly will be appreciated by everyone on your wedding day!
