Our journey together commenced with a coffee at Zarraffa’s Coffee in Nerang. Will and Kelly had driven over 50 kilometres down from Jimboomba for our first meeting. And we pretty well hit it off instantly. Kelly was very enthusiastic and a real conversationalist whereas Will was more on the laid-back side. It was lovely hearing about their life together and their beautiful rural home. The details about their wedding which was to be held at Pethers Rainforest Retreat sounded awesome. So I was looking forward to being a part of another very special day!
At our second meeting (with another coffee) we discovered that we were all on the “same page” about the significance of marriage. So it was nice to hear from Will and Kelly that they knew I was the perfect choice of Marriage Celebrant for them! After completing the necessary paperwork (and finishing that cup of coffee), all Kelly and Will had to do was finalise the requirements for their marriage ceremony and send it to me.
When I arrived at Pethers Rainforest Retreat, I was mesmerised by the incredible natural beauty. It came complete with a Wallaby and her Joey eating grass near the venue. Rain was on the radar, and we had a few spits of rain. But like clockwork, it stopped right before the ceremony was to commence. Will and his groomsmen arrived looking both nervous and excited. Will’s burgundy coloured crushed velvet jacket looked splendid with the greenery in the background. When the bridal party arrived, Will didn’t take his eyes of his beautiful bride as she walked towards him. With their hands held, it was time to marry them. The ceremony said everything it needed to. They spoke their vows very confidently…with the odd joke and amusing comments thrown in. And in what seemed only a blink of the eye, I was introducing Will and Kelly as Mr and Mrs Tate!
I always have a tinge of sadness when a beautiful occasion like this has concluded. But that can only mean that I have made new friends and shared with them a very special moment in their lives together. I am predicting an amazing future for Mr and Mrs Tate!
