In my last Blog, I addressed the issue of brides “Turning Up Fashionably On Time”. So is it fair to say that brides are always the reason for a wedding to commence late? Absolutely not! Unexpected delays can occur as the wedding day unfolds.
For example, the hair dresser may have been caught in a traffic jam and has arrived late. Once underway, things seem to catch up again….that is until the florist arrives with the flowers, but they are the wrong colour! While a colourful conversation with the florist is under way, the make-up artist is suddenly there to do every one’s make-up….Mum’s included….except that one of the Mums isn’t there yet because she is out having a coffee and has lost track of time. The doorbell rings, and now you have the photographer there to start taking the photos of the lead-up to the wedding….except people aren’t ready to have photos taken. The photographer thinks it may better if they disappear for a while things are a little hectic. Eventually the photographer comes back with a desire to “take the bull by the horns” and get the photos happening….but the Bride is somewhat stressed and not in the mood to look into a camera lens.
Did this scenario actually happen? Not that I’m aware of! But I’m confident to say that probably at least one or more of these issues have affected a bride. Preparation for the big day doesn’t mean that problems won’t be faced….but it certainly helps. A good Bridesmaid is a “godsend”! They should be the “calming influence” throughout the day and the organiser of the hair dresser, make-up artist and photographer. Many brides love to be “hands on”, but this is a good time to sit back and trust the person you have chosen for this specific role. However, there is one piece of advice I would give to brides! That is, don’t be afraid to tell the photographer to stop taking photos when it’s time to leave for the ceremony. Otherwise, they will find another backdrop or pose to take a photo of….and you will risk being late to your own wedding instead of being “Fashionably On Time”!
