I was very keen to see what the setting for this wedding day was going to be like. Especially since it was interstate and in a rural setting. Jessica and Terence had met while in transit to the famous Ute Muster in Deniliquin NSW. Their relationship had bloomed very quickly as they discovered that they had much in common. Both liked utes, country music and a laid back rural lifestyle. Jessica is my Step Daughter, so it was lovely when they asked me to be their celebrant. Since they live in the rural city of Wangaratta VIC, we organised many of the requirements through video calls and emails. Jess had just been informed that she and Terence were going to be parents of their second child. So there was a lot going on through their minds in the lead up to their wedding day.
The weekend arrived, and along with my wife, we flew down to Melbourne and headed up to Wangaratta by car. The nerves and excitement in their home were very evident. But with the help of family members, pretty much everything was ready to go. The venue for the ceremony was an old stable, yard and hay bales. It was a very “rustic” scenario. But this complimented both Jessica and Terence with their love of country music and lifestyle. The guys arrived wearing “cowboy” clothing and hats! Terence was very nervous. This was highlighted by his constant nervous chatter. But when Jess arrived, Terence’s gaze never left his beautiful bride. Jessica walked up in her lovely dress…complete with cowboy boots!
To get the ceremony under way, I set up a group “selfie” with all of the wedding party and guests. This settled the nerves, and then saw the ceremony seem like it was over in the blink of an eye! And with vows said and the paperwork signed, Jessica and Terence were introduced to everyone as husband and wife. It was a great day!
