There are times that you have to expect the unexpected. And the journey leading up to the wedding of Gordon and Bianca was organised and very well planned. And since I hadn’t performed a wedding at the Currumbin RSL, I was really looking forward to the experience.
The paperwork was completed at our second meeting. So now all we needed to do was finalise the ceremony which was done with very little fuss! But a couple of weeks before the big day, Bianca sends me an email saying that this would now be a wedding with a difference. Gordon had broken his leg and she was now pregnant with their first child. I remember sitting back in my office chair and having a good laugh.
A wedding rehearsal was arranged with all of the bridal party the day before the wedding. Most of the bridal party had flown in from Darwin and were great mates of both Gordon and Bianca. They were a fantastic group of people who you could easily have a good laugh with. Now with the rehearsal complete and nerves at bay, it was time for a drink. I departed the rehearsal with a smile on my face!
The next day I arrived at the Currumbin RSL and Gordon was both happy and relieved to see me. He was nervous, excited and jumpy. But his broken leg was giving him a bit of pain. However, there was definitely a big smile on his face as he awaited the arrival of Bianca. The venue looked stunning with the Currumbin Creek providing the magnificent backdrop. Bianca arrived and stood in front of Gordon looking radiant. The ceremony was a breeze with both Gordon and Bianca declaring personal vows. Gordon was very emotional as he read his vows out and it added to a very beautiful moment in time. This wonderful day ending with an amazing couple, beautiful family, awesome friends and an evening to remember as they celebrated the beginning of a new life for Mr and Mrs Davis.
