Here on the Gold Coast, Beach Weddings are a very popular “outdoor” choice. But it is worth considering what issues can make it a little uncomfortable for the Bridal party and guests.
For example, sand can be very unsteady to walk on. Therefore, it may be more sensible for the ladies to wear flat type shoes during the ceremony and change into a higher heel for photos and the reception. The sound of a “roaring surf” or “wind” can also cause difficulties at times. No matter how experienced a celebrant is, a strong wind gust can disturb the paperwork they are reading from and it may be hard for everyone to hear what is being said….even when a Portable Public Address System is being used. The signing of the documents could also be awkward. Props such as Wedding Arches can get blown over too.
So without putting a negative slant on the idea of a Beach Wedding, I simply urge couples to visit the location where they want to get married and consider what difficulties they may potentially face on the day. If these are at least considered, then every opportunity to have a spectacular and memorable wedding has been made for all of the “right” reasons! And don’t forget that the local council may require you to have an Outdoor Wedding Permit for the ceremony to take place…sometimes for a specific time if the location is a popular choice for weddings.
